Ecoverva
On September 13, 2023, 'Ecoverva,' a pioneering E-waste recycling company, held an interactive session for students in DP 1 and DP 2. The session focused on the dangers associated with improper E-waste disposal and initiatives to mitigate these threats.
As one of India's 400 registered recyclers, 'Ecoverva' has successfully repurposed 2.5 million metric tons of E-waste collected from various parts of the country, including smartphones, smart sticks, TV screens, iPads, and other electronic devices. The organization's extensive experience and commitment to raising awareness about the importance of a sustainable future provided students with a comprehensive understanding of E-waste sources, the waste management process, global production statistics, and their relevance to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The session was enhanced with a range of visual aids, including engaging videos and presentations showcasing the recycling of different components of smartphones. This delighted the audience and made the information more accessible.
Furthermore, students were introduced to a team project proposed by 'Ecoverva,' which aims to offer insights and hands-on experience in repurposing E-waste that is often thoughtlessly dumped in landfills. Participants in this project will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on communities affected by the toxic consequences of E-waste production.
In summary, Ecoverva's session provided valuable insights to the audience and helped educate both students and teachers about the significant impacts of everyday habits that contribute to the alarming increase in E-waste.
